BA Hons
Jane, a late starter to the world of karate has just achieved her black belt. After sitting on the sidelines for 13 years, watching her husband teach karate and occasionally attending competitions to support his students. She took the plunge and started training when some of the ladies from the club convinced her it was something worthwhile in trying. She did so and has never looked back. Jane’s background couldn’t be further from karate, she studied at the prestigious St.Martin’s School of Art and has a BA Hons degree in fashion design. So you could say that any form of exercise, or sports activity didn’t really feature highly on the agenda. Jane’s very first competition was in 2006, were she went as a squad member to Malta to compete in the 4 Nations Cup. She achieved both a gold and silver medal in two different kata events. Then went on to compete in Guildford at the Shobu Ippon 2007 competition, alongside 1059 other hopeful competitors and won yet another silver trophy in the women’s novice kata event. Up to date Jane has achieved 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in kata. So taking into account all her achievements to date, this is pretty good going for someone who’s comments are "I’m allergic to any form of exercise and if I can do it then anyone can!" |
